You must also need to be at the top of the class. Interests in mathematics, biology, and physics are preferred. You also need to be licensed and certified. Residency programs need to be completed as well. Demand for Career This career is needed to treat cancer. Without these specialists cancer would be worse than it is. They help patients deal with the disease. They also work to cure it and treat it.  Reflection This career does interest me. I might consider this occupation. 

Plastic Surgeon

Duties and Responsibilities Plastic Surgeons specialize in repairing damaged skin, fix facial bone structure, and recunstructing birth defects. They examine and diagnose deformities caused by accidents, diseases, or abnormalities. They perform surguries on patients to either correct or enhance or restore certain features. Lastly, they run and order diagnostic tests, and prescribe medications and treatment.  Salary $363,555 - $407, 709 Education In order to pursue this career, you will need to complete 4 years of under graduate school, complete pre medical courses such as biology, physics, and chemistry. You will need to complete an additional 4 years of medical school to earn an (M.D), or a (D.O). Residency must be completed, lasting 5 years. You will need to be licensed and certified by the (ABPS), or the (AOBS). Demand for Career This career is needed for those who need to recover from extensive damage. PHYSICAL THERAPIST

Duties and Responsibilities Physical therapists diagnose and  manage patients with movement dysfunctions.They work to enhance a patients physical and functional abilities. They promote optimal physical function. They work with a patients history, conduct system reviews, and perform tests and measures to identify any possible issues or dysfunctions.  Salary $84,020 Education Requirements of a physical therapist career are a (DPT), an (MPT), and an (MSPT). You must earn your degrees from an accredited program. Programs are typically 3 years. Courses involving biology or anatomy are required.  Demand for Career This career is necessary because physical therapists are in charge of restoring and improving ones physical functional motoring capabilities. Without them recovery would be very difficult to achieve.  Reflection This career does not interest me. I would not consider it a career path for myself. 

PERIODONTIST

Duties and Responsibilities The duties of a periodontist revolve around the specialty of treating and working with the gums. You may complete procedures, surgical and non surgical. Periodontists also plan treatment and the care plans of their patients. Your work environment may be anywhere you wish.  Salary $192,680 - $305, 820 Education The education path of a Periodontist is highly similar to that of a dentist. You must earn a Bachelor's degree. You must enter residency and take courses of any science. You will eventually need to pass an exam and be licensed.  Demand for career This career is important because it specializes in gums and the bones invloved. Without them it would be hard to be informed of ones oral health Reflection This career does not really intrest me. I would not want to be it. 

PATHOLOGIST

duties and responsibilities Pathologists study and collect tissue and bodily fluids to diagnose, study, and treat diseases. They perform research and run tests. Fluids studied may include blood and urine, tissues may be used from pap smears and biopsies to diagnose diseases. It is possible to perform autopsies to determine the causes of death. Or you may lead with laboratory responsibilities and managing other lab technicians and physicians.  salary $302,610 education To become a Pathologist it may take a course of 12 years or more. You must join a program to receive a Bachelor's degree in a pre medical curriculum. Then you must enter a medical school and receive an M.D or D.O. Programs may last 4 years and subjects include: pathology, emergency medicine, cardiology, medical ethics. Then you enter residency and a fellowship soon after. OSTEOPATHIC PHYSICIAN

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES An osteopathic physician focuses on the whole of a person. They treat, diagnose, and prescribe diseases and symptoms. They may also perform required surgeries. They practice medicine as a whole and work with all medical specialties.  SALARY $162, 908 - $236, 544 EDUCATION The minimum required to become an Osteopathic physician is three years of college and a Bachelor's degree or any other higher degree. GPA's must be as high as possible. Courses such as math, science, or overall should be as high as possible. DEMAND FOR CAREER This career is highly necessary when it comes to the medical field. These physicians are of assistance in all medical specialties. They prove themselves highly useful in any given situation.  REFLECTION This career does interest me. It does sound like something I would enjoy pursuing a career in. I will need to look into this career more in order to get further information. 

ORTHOPEDIC SURGEON

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Orthopedic surgeons work within the muskuloskeletal  system. They treat and diagnose traumas, injuries, arthritis, and congenital deformities. They guide and record the patients medical history and procedures. They coordinate follow up meetings. They even book ORs and settle procedures. SALARY $512,000 - $519,000 EDUCATION First they must receive a Bachelor's degree in biology or any other medical related field. They must complete 4 years of medical school. Followed by a 5 year residency program at a hospital. If any sub-specialties are desired, and extra 2 years of residency must be met. DEMAND FOR CAREER  This career is needed for the medical attention regarding the skeletal system. They focus on any bone related cases. Without them mending or attending to these specific issues would prove to be very difficult. REFLECTION I do not have a clear opinion on this career. ORTHODONTIST

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The main concept of an Orthodontist is to correct teeth alignment and guide proper facial development. They straighten teeth and correct bites. The responsibility of an Orthodontist is to locate and position their oral development. They may use x rays and plaster molds to identify a patients needs. They also apply dental appliances such as braces, retainers, and space maintainers. They must plan custom treatment plans to each individual patient. They recommend eye wear such as contacts and eyeglasses as needed. Optometrists also diagnose and treat disorders, visual problems, and injuries of the eyes.  SALARY $106,140 EDUCATION Optometry requires a Doctor of Optometry (O.D.), three years of post secondary education, coursework in biology, chemistry, physics, English, and math. Applicants must take the Optometry Admissions Test (OAT)  to apply for programs. The DOC takes four years to complete. Coursework includes anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, optics, visual science, and the diagnoses and treatment disorders of the visual system. Finally they must be licensed by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry.  DEMAND FOR PROFESSION This profession is needed for the care in optical health. '' I hated poverty. Poverty is more of a choice than anything else, and I can change that (poverty). While it mat be true that poverty can eventually be overcome, many out there do work hard and give it their all at what they do yet they still do not escape. There are two ways to work hard at something. Sometimes you get what you want, other times things remain the same. This quote can not always be held true. There is a key element that breaks this from being true, education. You can work hard all you want but not go far because of lack of an education. Without education your efforts will mean nothing. Education can be in many forms. Education is the real key to success, without it efforts will not do much good. At times poverty is not a choice, lack of education will forever hold a family down.
