Optometry requires a Doctor of Optometry (O.D.), three years of post secondary education, coursework in biology, chemistry, physics, English, and math. Applicants must take the Optometry Admissions Test (OAT)  to apply for programs. The DOC takes four years to complete. Coursework includes anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, optics, visual science, and the diagnoses and treatment disorders of the visual system. Finally they must be licensed by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry.

This profession is needed for the care in optical health. Without them our eyes would not get the treatments needed. It would be difficult to get eye wear as needed.

REFLECTION

''The reward for doing right is mostly an internal phenomenon: self-respect, dignity, (self-worth), integrity, and self-esteem.'' - Dr. Laura Shlessinger This quote is true. Usually when doing something that is right you never really get a physical reward. The satisfaction is internal since you yourself commited the act. At times there might not be any witnesses. Physical recognition comes for other reasons. When you acknowledge those factors, right truly will feel like a phenomenon. The feeling you get when doing right is like no other. That is the only feeling apart from all others. That sense of well being will not be caused by any thing else. Reward over moral is a great prize.

''I have been asked what I mean by 'word of honor'. I will tell you: Place me behind prison walls- walls of stone ever so high, every so thick, reaching ever so far into the ground- there is a possibility that in some way or another I might be able to escape; but stand me on the floor and draw a chalk line around me and have me give my word of honor never to cross it. While it is true, having those qualities and being true to your word is incredible, it can not be the only action. For example, to die out of a promise seems extreme. There are many ways to fufill a promise and be a trustworthy person. Dying should not be considered. Staying true is one thin...
