Depression
Clinical depression is a major mood disorder. It affects how you
feel, think, and
handle daily activities. There are over
five different types of depression. Some symptoms of depression include: constant feelings of
anxiety,
sadness,
hopelessness,
irritability, worthlessness, or
guilt. Other symptoms include change in appetite, change in sleep pattern, decreased energy,
suicidal tendencies or thoughts, etc. Over
three million people are diagnosed with clinical depression every year in the United States. Depression must be diagnosed and symptoms must last
over two weeks. Depression often occurs between ages
fourteen through
sixty. Depression is one of the most common mental disorders in the United States. Current research has discovered that Depression is often caused or influenced certain factors such as
genetic,
environmental,
biological, and
psychological factors. Depression can also occur due to other medical illnesses such as cancer, diabetes, etc. It is usually treated with
psycho therapy or medications like
antidepressants.
