Student Success Statement

''I would prefer even to fail with honor than win by cheating.'' - Sophocles

I agree with this quote. While loosing is not the best feeling, I would not be able to handle the guilt. I would not be able to cheat. I do not know how people who have cheated manage to deal with it. My conscience would never allow me to do so. If there is honor in loosing I would much rather accept it. For example, you are not only cheating yourself, but those around you. If you are a famous competator, you let your fans down. Cheating is not being honest. It is better to accept loss than make a fool of your name by cheating.

Usually when doing something that is right you never really get a physical reward. The satisfaction is internal since you yourself commited the act. At times there might not be any witnesses. Physical recognition comes for other reasons. When you acknowledge those factors, right truly will feel like a phenomenon. The feeling you get when doing right is like no other. That is the only feeling apart from all others. That sense of well being will not be caused by any thing else. Reward over moral is a great prize.

Can I get out of that circle? No, never! I'd die first.'' - Karl G. Maeser I think this quote is very noble. It speaks of good character. The quality it takes is of the ultimate trust and loyalty. Yet, I can't help but disagree at its exaggeration. Trust and loyalty can only go so far and do so much. While it is true, having those qualities and being true to your word is incredible, it can not be the only action. For example, to die out of a promise seems extreme. There are many ways to fufill a promise and be a trustworthy person. Dying should not be considered. Staying true is one thin...
