Student Success Statement

''It's A GREAT MOMENT when someone has character to step up and do the right thing at the right time.'' - Coach Pam Knox

This story is about a college softball team during a championship. A player Sarah Tucholsky had never before scored a home run. She was a senior and this was her only chance. When she hit it was a home run. Although as she was running she tore some muscle or something in her leg. She practically crawled to first base. No other player on her team could help her since it was against the rules. Then some of the two players on the opposing team decided to help her. Mallory Hotlman is a great player with many successes in her softball career, she went up to Sarah and helped her. Mallory and Liz Wallace both on opposite teams, carried Sarah around the bases each time making her foot touch the base. In the end it was justified by Mallory that the other team won so it was only right to physically prove it. This story was nice. It is a perfect example of what good sportsmanship behavior should be like. I think the girls are decent people who have great character. More people should be as considerate and honorable as Mallory and Liz.

''The reward for doing right is mostly an internal phenomenon: self-respect, dignity, (self-worth), integrity, and self-esteem.'' - Dr. Laura Shlessinger This quote is true. Usually when doing something that is right you never really get a physical reward. The satisfaction is internal since you yourself commited the act. At times there might not be any witnesses. Physical recognition comes for other reasons. When you acknowledge those factors, right truly will feel like a phenomenon. The feeling you get when doing right is like no other. That is the only feeling apart from all others. That sense of well being will not be caused by any thing else. Reward over moral is a great prize.

'' I hated poverty. Poverty is more of a choice than anything else, and I can change that (poverty). It depends upon how hard I want to work, and I decided that I would change it.'' - Dr. Ben Carson I do not really agree with this statement. While it mat be true that poverty can eventually be overcome, many out there do work hard and give it their all at what they do yet they still do not escape. There are two ways to work hard at something. Sometimes you get what you want, other times things remain the same. This quote can not always be held true. There is a key element that breaks this from being true, education. You can work hard all you want but not go far because of lack of an education. Without education your efforts will mean nothing. Education can be in many forms. Education is the real key to success, without it efforts will not do much good. At times poverty is not a choice, lack of education will forever hold a family down. While some may be lucky to mov...
