NEUROSURGEON

Duties and Responsibilities

A neurosurgeon works with the brain, peripheral nerves, and spinal cord. They may perform surgeries, remove tumors, relieve chronic pain, and treat wounds. Neurosurgeons may also work and treat patients with vascular disorders, Parkinson's disease and epilepsy. They may also perform surgeries to relive the brain of hydrocephalus, treat spinal disorders and scoliosis. These surgeons may also coordinate other nurses and physicians in the operating room. They also diagnose and interpret  results. They may run tests such as CT scans and PET scans.

Education

Aspiring Neurosurgeons must complete four years of undergraduate school, four years of medical school, then get into a residency program. Residency programs usually last six to seven years of neurological training. The first year is the year of internship, they are taught the basics of clinical skill for trauma and clinical care. Three to six months of clinical training in neurology are followed. Another year is often spent on research to fulfill program requirements. Finally they must be certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery. 

Reflection

I am highly interested in pursuing this career. It does catch my attention and build on my interests. I will look into this job further.

Yet, I can't help but disagree at its exaggeration. Trust and loyalty can only go so far and do so much. While it is true, having those qualities and being true to your word is incredible, it can not be the only action. For example, to die out of a promise seems extreme. There are many ways to fufill a promise and be a trustworthy person. Dying should not be considered. Staying true is one thin...
